Update 8th March 2018

I have added a new contribution by my cousin Teri: My visit to the Ljubljana Air Disaster Memorial.

In addition, over the last couple of months I have received some lovely comments by various people. These can be found on the pages:

  1. Other people’s memories
  2. Update, November 15th 2017
  3. Personal recollections
  4. It is now 51 years on.

It feels wrong to pick out any of these in particular but the one from Peter George was very gratifying to receive. Peter is the nephew of Winifred Woolley who, together with her husband Fred and her daughter Dianne, were family friends who were travelling with us. They all died.

  1. Hello I am Ted Robinson from Harvington near Evesham in Worcs.. I spent a lovely holiday in 1965 (when on honeymoon) with Fred and Win Woolley in Pineda de Mar. I have some lovely photos of Fred and Win if you would like to see them. They were a lovely couple. What a tragedy, especially as their daughter was with them.

  2. Hello Michael, My name is Paul Fletcher and at the time of this tragic crash I was 16 and working as a junior Civil Servant in Kensington. A work colleague showed me an early copy of the Evening Standard which carried the story of the accident .
It was only when I returned home to find journalists on my parents doorstep that, after being ushered inside,I was told my Fathers two brothers together with a sister in law had died in the crash.
The whole family were stunned, not least My late Grandmother who had to come to terms with the loss of 2 sons whilst in her late seventies.
My abiding memory is of attending 3 funerals in one day and seeing my Uncle & Aunts coffins draped with the Union Jack.
My Cousin visited the site of the crash a couple of years ago and I am pleased a monument has been erected to remember the victims of this tragedy.
I am sorry for your loss, it must have been a horrendous experience.
I hope you don’t mind me writing.
    Kind Regards
    Paul Fletcher

    1. Dear Paul,
Many thanks for commenting on my blog: it is very kind of you and I really appreciate it. It has taken me many years to get round to writing all this and I will respond to you more fully very soon. I am in the process of adding some new content. I am very sorry for your loss too. When one is involved in something like this It is very easy to forget how so many people, relatives and friends, are/were also affected.
      Very kind regards,
      Michael
